Christmas Break Routine

Hi Son, this was the routine that we had over the Christmas holiday. Overall, sleeping was never an issue, there were some nights that you woke up in the middle of the night, but most nights you slept right through the night and had long mid-day naps. As far as nutrition, there were days that were a challenge, however, as time went by and we spent more time together, with lots of patience you were able to try new foods and enjoy your meal time. Below is the routine we had as well as some of the food you seemed to enjoy:

6:30-7:00 am Wake up: As soon as you wake up a 6 oz bottle was given to you. Most of the time you were given toddler formula to avoid the possibility of stomach inflation, organic regular milk was given occasionally:

7:30-8:30am : While you were enjoying your bottle, many times we watched videos that would teach vocabulary in Spanish/English and I also let you played games that involved creativity. During this time you seemed to be very creative and interact with others (like facetime calls), which shows me that you might be a morning person.

8:30-9:15 am: We tried on a couple of times to have breakfast around this time, but it seemed like you were not hungry and showed resistance. Around this time I would offer a banana and many times you wanted to eat it (sometimes a whole banana). If you didn’t show interest in food, what we would do during this time is it bath time, get you ready, and go outside for a walk with Luca. You seemed to enjoy a lot the exercise while walking and seeing outside.

9:15-9:45 am: This was the time were we had breakfast, many times after walking outside, you seemed to be ready to eat, however, if you didn’t want to sit in your chair, I still asked you to sit down with discipline.

Stonyfield organic yogurt: Even though you enjoyed the yogurt, it was mixed with cereal so you would get more nutrition.

These were some of the breakfast ideas that you seemed to enjoy:

10:00-10:30: by this time you are showing signs that you are tired, so another 6oz bottle is made and we lay down for your nap of the day.

10:30-1:30p : Nap time, usual sleep time is around 2 hours. White noise is played.

1:30-2:30: after a long nap, you wake up a a bit grumpy and don’t want to eat anything. Since you are refusing fruits and veggies, a smoothie is made using many fruits and vegetables like the picture above. You Drink by small sips but end up drinking it all. You seem to really like it!

2:30pm (or earlier if you wake up earlier) Lunch time! This is the time when we have lunch. I notice that you like eating while everyone is seated next to you. On occasions that you really don’t want to sit down, you enjoy sitting down while listening to music in Alexa. Other days we do play a show in the Alexa like Peppa pig while you eat (right now I’m allowing it but as you get older we shouldn’t have TV on while you eat). Below are a couple of things you seemed to enjoy eating:

Lunch Ideas you seemed to enjoy:

Spaghetti (and salmon) : Spaguetti is your favorite food, it is cooked with tomato to give it more taste.

Crispy salmon: You seem to like cooked crispy salmon, which made dad happy since this is a very nutritious food.

Roasted Cauliflower and orzo

Mixed rice, like the hibachi rice here that comes in a frozen box

White meat chicken

Cauliflower pizza crust

  • Rice and black beans
  • Green peas
  • Thick french fries

Overall, the more exercise and activity it seemed to make you more welcoming with food, the only challenge was making sure that you didn’t have or see goldfish, otherwise you were not open to eat anything.

2:30-5:00pm: This time was spent either doing activities or going somewhere to explore. I noticed that the more activities you did which required walking or actively playing the more you were willing to eat and try new foods. Below are a some of the snacks that you were given, as well as more smoothie:

5:30pm-6:30pm: Dinner time

6:30pm-7:00pm: Get ready for bed time, where you went in your PJ’s and we read a book.

By 7:30pm: Nap time, where you are given a 6oz bottle of toddler formula.

This was our routine in Naples FL, where you spent time with Daddy, abuelito, Ita, and Luca. Love you son.

Hi Son!

If you are ever reading this my intention is to make an account of some of the quality time we’ve had and ultimately so you can get a glimpse of your childhood in your early years. It is true that most of us can’t remember much from an early age, but the love that is given to us helps us become who we are and also develop in life.

Even though you might not remember many things from an early age, my goal is that you grow up knowing you are loved by your family, by God, and that you grow up confident that God has big and special plans for you in your life and to leave a mark in this earth.

I will document different things we did, memories, and things that happen as you grow up and I am right there with you as much as I am allowed to be. Let’s this adventure begin!

A quote I wanted to share

Bricks and stones will break your bones but words won’t hurt you.

Hi son, right now I am on a plane traveling from NYC back to Atlanta. I wanted to share with you a couple of words that have been going through my mind about the importance of having a good attitude in life and avoiding things in your life that might negatively impact your spirit or distract you from working towards achieving things that are worthy and have a positive impact, whether on yourself or others.

I recently learned a quote that shows us that sometimes we pay too much attention to the things others say about us. You will find that throughout your life there will be people that will try to put you down. Either because they believe they are superior, or due to jealousy, fear in their hearts, or even simply because they just don’t like you. These types of attitudes can impact how we feel or view ourselves , and can cause us to live in confusion or even get us to feel sad.

What I want to tell you is that is important that we stay focused and keep a grateful heart and positive attitude to make sure that the attacks from others do not distort how we view ourselves and even limit us from achieving and realizing the many blessings that God may have for us.

Words are important, and they do have an impact on others, that’s why it’s important that we treat others with respect and even uplift others any chance we get. However, it’s also important that we stay guarded and learn to identify when poor behaviors from others towards us should be ignored. At the end of the day :

Bricks and stones will break your bones but words won’t hurt you. Let’s stay strong!
